Lot 178 Auctioned on 12/4/2015. Gibson Nick Lucas Guitar; 1937; 14.75 inches width at lower bout x 10.25 inches width upper bout x 4 11/16 inches depth at end pin x 4 5/16 depth at neck x 19 5/16 inches body length x 40 1/8 inches overall length; Serial No. 95058, maple back insides, spruce top, Brazilian rosewood bridge and fingerboard, original mother of pearl inlays in neck, Fleur de le inlay on peg head, pearl Gibson on peg head, original binding intact but with various cracks, extensive finish wear and capo wear on back of neck, 14 fret neck, rare original black finish, has original tuners, bridge, bridge pins, and pick guard, there are 3 tight unrepaired cracks in top, 1 tight unrepaired small crack in back, and seam separation between back and sides at end pin, the bridge is slightly pulling up, there are several loose braces top and back, 1 tuner bushing is missing, the end pin is not original, has extensive dings and scratches, original tuners are functional but rusty, pick wear around sound hole, owners initials lightly scratched in finish beside sound hole, white paint added around edge of sound hole, with no tension on strings the neck appears to be perfectly straight, and the frets show minimal wear, this is a rare, one owner, Gibson guitar, apart from the end pin this piece is completely original with no repairs or alterations, original label is completely intact and clearly legible, this piece would need minimal work to be restored to its original condition and would then be ready for another hundred years of music making, accompanying this guitar there will be a biography of the original owner Mr. Fuller and was prepared by Mr. Fullers family and is an outstanding glimpse into the history of this man and his guitar; Provenance: Consigned by the Great Niece of Mr. Ben Fuller
